The Music of Motown

Joe Bourne and Crystal Stark

Friday, November 10 – 7:00 pm

Joe Boune and Crystal Stark

Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, music became a part of life for Joe Bourne at an early age. He began his singing career in a church choir and with various street corner singing groups. Greatly inspired by such greats as Nat King Cole and Lou Rawls, Joe’s own singing style is rapidly becoming known to audiences around the globe.
Joe’s career grew in the USA from lead singer for a Top 40 rhythm and blues / jazz band, to the international status that he now enjoys, recording and releasing LPs and subsequently having hit singles from these LPs. After moving to Europe, Joe began performing for the American Military and supported acts in concert for such artists as The Stylistics, Natalie Cole, The Manhattans, The Pointer Sisters, and Dionne Warwick while they were on their European tour.

His engagements have included places such as Scandinavia, Australia, Aruba, Indonesia, Great Britain, Spain, Germany, Italy and Switzerland. Numerous television shows culminated in a Christmas TV special with the world renown Ray Charles which was filmed in Germany and televised in various markets throughout the world. Joe continues to expand his already extensive repertoire, delivering his special brand of entertainment for Radio and TV programs, gala evenings, concerts, dinner shows, film premieres, new product presentations, designer fashion shows, openings, conventions, cruise ship galas, and charity benefits.

Joe teams up with his female colleagues for some heart-warming duet performances complemented by various orchestra backings from combo to Big Band or symphony type orchestra.

When powerhouse vocalist Crystal Stark performs, she doesn’t just take the stage – she owns it.

The international performer and American Idol semi-finalist got her start singing in her home town of Tucson, Arizona. She auditioned for Season 5 of American Idol. Crystal made the top 44 and, although her Idol journey stopped there, she forged a close friendship with season runner-up Katharine McPhee and joined Katharine’s national tour as a back-up singer.

Her subsequent travels have taken her to venues throughout in the United States and abroad, and she has shared the stage with such talents as trumpeter Rick Braun, guitarist Matt Marshak. and beloved comedian Bob Newhart. While touring with Katharine McPhee, Crystal appeared on The Tonight Show, The Ellen Degeneres Show, Regis & Kelly, The Today Show, and Jimmy Kimmel Live, among others.

Today, Crystal enjoys a full performance calendar that reflects the diversity of her wide-ranging talents. In addition to fronting the Crystal Stark Band which plays at venues around Arizona and for corporate functions, she sings with 80s cover band 80s and Gentlemen, vocal trio Triple Threat, the Tucson Pops Orchestra, and Big Band Express, among others.

Her second studio album, “One Way,” was released on May 30, 2015 – “Crystal Stark Day” – as declared by City of Tucson mayor Jonathan Rothschild. The album features all original compositions by Crystal, and leans heavily on her soul/jazz roots for many of its songs.

When not on stage, Crystal is the Director of General Music, Band & Choir for Esmond Station K-8 school in Vail, Arizona.

Vail Laughs Clean Comedy Show

DUELING PIANOS

Saturday, November 18, 2017 – 7:00 pm

Vail Laughs

Vail Laughs is based on one simple idea:

Clean comedy for a good price.
Entertainment standards have definitely shifted over the years. As the world keeps moving faster, it takes more energy to get our attention in the noise. Unfortunately, much of our entertainment uses shock value and other cheap antics to get it. It’s almost a celebration of being rude and insulting, bringing the audience down right along with the entertainers.
But life is funny enough without having to be vulgar!
Think about this:

We drive to the gym so we can walk on a treadmill. We carry these high tech devices in our pockets, the knowledge of all the world at our fingertips and we use them to send each other videos of screaming goats. Or the irony of reaching adulthood and discovering our parents actually had a point about naps.

What a strange bunch of creatures we are!

Our award winning comedians are as committed to this ideal as we are, bringing you quality entertainment month after month and leaving behind all the vulgarity and cheap antics.  Quite simply, it’s high quality entertainment you can bring your entire family to. The most important decision you have for the evening is whether to leave the kids or the babysitter at home.

Dueling Pianos

A Dueling Pianos show consists of two pianos and two musicians who sing and play songs directly from the guests request forms that are provided and distributed just prior to the show.

It’s an all-request, clap-a-long, sing-a-long, dance-a-long, audience-interactive dueling pianos show perfect for VailLaughs 1st Anniversary. This unique style of comedy, country, and rock ‘n roll leaves audiences laughing, singing and cheering for more!

This show isn’t just a couple pianos playing songs…it’s request-driven mega-interaction! More than just dueling pianos and singalong…it’s audience interaction on STEROIDS. This show is performed by audience interactive experts whose career focus is audience involvement and entertainment for everybody filled with clean comedy and laughter.

What makes Dueling Pianos Show unique is they only play our guests request and it’s not a planned canned show – So no two shows are ever the same. Each is a customized show combining the musical effort of two extremely talented piano performers and singers, presenting an amazing quality of entertainment.

These talented musicians perform regularly throughout the country. The Dueling Pianos Show is like having a live band, DJ, and comedians all in one! The novelty of this show evolves around high-energy audience interactive, making the audience the stars of the show, so no two shows are ever the same. The audience makes the request, decides what is played, what they don’t play, and sometimes what they stop playing. That is all part of the fun.
